Date sweetened, no oil or added sugar, super crunchy and lightly sweetened apple cinnamon granola! This is a classic granola recipe made healthier by omitting refined sugars and oil. It bakes up beautifully in big clusters! You can customize it and add your own favorite nuts/seeds and dried fruit.
INGREDIENTS In Apple Cinnamon Oil Free Granola-
Wet Ingredients
- 1/4 cup date paste (see my recipe for homemade date paste on this blog) If you don’t feel like making the date paste you can sub maple syrup or coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup creamy, runny almond butter- I use raw almond butter from Trader Joe’s
- 1 snack container of applesauce (or 1/2 cup)
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats- I recommend using organic
- 2 tsp ceylon cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 1 cup walnut halves or use a mix of your favorite nuts/ seeds, pumpking seeds and almonds also go great in this recipe
- 1/2 cup white dried mulberries or golden raisins
HOW TO MAKE APPLE CINNAMON GRANOLA
- 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the wet ingredients and mix until completely smooth.
- 3. Add in the dry ingredients and mix well to combine.
- 4. Spread mixture out on a baking sheet. Use your hands to press the granola into a flat even layer. Bake for 40 minutes total, flipping every 15 minutes (bake for 15, flip, another 15, flip, then bake another 10 minutes). When its finished it should be nicely browned without being burnt. Let it cool completely on the baking sheet for another 30 minutes or so. Once it cools it will get nice and crispy crunchy!
- 5. ENJOY your healthy granola as a yogurt parfait, with milk as a cereal or as a snack! YUM YUM
